Dental Checkups & Cleanings
Routine dental checkups and teeth cleanings are essential to maintaining a longer-lasting smile. Dr. Stacy and our qualified dental team will examine your smile for cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease to catch problems early on before they become more invasive and complex. We’ll also have one of our hygienists remove any plaque and tartar from your teeth and gumline to reduce the spread of bacteria. Before you leave, we’ll answer any questions and offer ways to lower your risk of oral health problems in between appointments.
Dentistry for Children
Decay is not something that only develops in adult smiles. It also plagues those who are much younger. Dr. Stacy and our team understand how easy it can be for cavities to form when children are beginning to learn how to clean their teeth, which is why children’s dentistry is something we are pleased to offer our patients. We’ll help your child to become more comfortable by answering their questions and explaining the process. Then, we’ll conduct a thorough dental exam and cleaning.
Fluoride Treatment
You and your family may be exposed to fluoride through your tap water, the foods you eat, and the toothpaste you use, but at our dental office, Dr. Stacy offers additional fluoride applications should you or a member of your family be prone to cavities. Not only does it offer greater protection against tooth decay, but it helps to strengthen the enamel as well. The application process takes only minutes and can be completed during a regular exam.
Dental Sealants
As clear coatings that are painted onto the chewing surfaces of teeth, dental sealants work to protect molars and premolars from bacteria and plaque. Used mostly on children’s smiles, the pits and grooves of back teeth can be hard for little hands to reach when cleaning. This leaves these areas open to food particles that can become easily trapped. Once dental sealants are in place, though, they reduce the potential for cavities, keeping smiles healthy for up to 10 years.
Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards
If you have an athlete in your family, you’ll want to make sure their smile is protected with a customized athletic mouthguard. Also known as sportsguards, these devices are worn during a game to protect against hard hits and unwanted pressure. Not only does it safeguard teeth and gums while at play, but it also reduces the amount of time and money spent seeing an emergency dentist for broken, damaged teeth.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Bruxism as it is known among dentists tends to occur at night while you’re asleep. Over time, your tooth enamel can wear down, and you may develop chronic jaw pain, which can lead to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Should Dr. Stacy notice any of these signs during your regular exam, she may recommend a custom nightguard, which can be crafted in-house. Using impressions of your teeth, we can create an oral device that is comfortable and effective in keeping your teeth from touching.
TMJ Treatment
Jaw pain, no matter its severity, can pose problems with your ability to eat and speak. You may find it hard to open your mouth or chew because of the strain and discomfort you experience. These signs are often connected to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and can occur when inflammation appears among your jaw joints. With a proper diagnosis, however, we can craft an occlusal splint that helps to alleviate pressure, tension, and pain in these joints so that you can feel better and enjoy greater oral function.
Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment
Lip and tongue-ties are often found during infancy, as babies tend to display difficulties nursing or taking a bottle. However, these restricted bands of tissues may not become problematic until a child is older. No matter the age, Dr. Stacy can perform what is known as a frenectomy to release the banded tissue and improve both lip and tongue movement. This not only produces happier babies who can freely nurse but also improves a child’s speech, eating, and breathing habits for a better quality of life.
