What are E4D Same-Day Dental Crowns?
E4D same-day dental crowns are a type of restoration that does not require multiple dental appointments to complete. Instead, using revolutionary technology, we can digitally scan your mouth to produce a 3D image that is sent to an in-house milling unit, where the dental crown is fabricated from high-quality materials. We then bond it into place after thorough inspection, ensuring it looks natural and fits comfortably.
The Process of Getting an E4D Same-Day Dental Crown
Dr. Stacy will begin by administering local anesthesia before clearing out affected areas of the tooth to ensure no bacteria or damaged portions remain. She will then file the tooth down so that the new crown can be bonded properly into place.
Using E4D technology, she will digitally scan the tooth, producing a 3D model on a nearby monitor. After noticing various specifications, she will send the image to our in-house milling unit. There, a piece of ceramic (or another similar material) will be placed into the machine so that it begins to create your new dental crown.
When finished, Dr. Stacy will retrieve the restoration and give it a final polish before bonding it over your tooth.
The Benefits of E4D Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns
Both E4D and traditional crowns have the same goal – to protect vulnerable teeth from future reinfection or harm. However, there are many benefits that E4D can offer that regular crowns cannot, such as:
- Fewer dental appointments – E4D crowns are completed in a single appointment, while traditional crowns require 2-3 visits.
- No temporary crowns needed – Because E4D crowns are placed on the same day, there is no need for a temporary crown, which is essential when receiving a traditional crown.
- You get to be a part of the process – With E4D crowns, you can watch the entire process take place, while traditional crowns require you to wait and hope that your restoration looks the way you want it to.
